Are you a council tenant, or were you living in a council property when it was transferred to another landlord?  If so, then we can confirm the good news that your dream of home ownership may soon become a reality!

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has announced an increase in the top percentage discount for those wishing to purchase their home under the Right To Buy Scheme to a maximum discount of £75,000, or £100,000 if in London.

In real terms, this is an increase from a maximum discount of 60% to 70% and now brings the maximum discount for eligible tenants of houses in line with those eligible tenants of flats.

The other good news is that these maximum caps will continue to rise annually in line with the consumer price index rate of inflation.

Home ownership is a valuable asset to you and your family and a very important investment for your future.  If you are eligible, this could mean that will soon be taking your first step up on the property ladder.  It will also give you more freedom when it comes to making those all-important changes to your family home.

As with any home purchase, there are serious financial obligations and responsibilities to be considered but Newnham & Jordan, with their wealth of conveyancing experience and knowledge, are here to guide you throughout the entire Right To Buy process, from start to finish.

More information regarding eligibility for the Right To Buy scheme can be found at the DCLG website at: http://righttobuy.communities.gov.uk/
