About Vernon 

Following a career in Local Government law as a Principal Legal Executive, specialising in major Civil Engineering and Construction disputes [involving complex litigation / ICE & JCT Arbitrations] – he then entered the private sector as a Consultant litigator for three successive medium sized local law firms [to 2014] advising primarily on commercial claims for Housing Association developments ; management company issues, and for the construction industry generally’

Now semi –retired, he brings his wealth of experience to Newnham & Jordan and deals with a wide variety of construction disputes – not only for commercial development projects – but more particularly in the domestic sector where, all too often, a simple house extension could become stressful due to poor design /  structural instability – made even worse by poor workmanship.

Such a scenario, he merits a pleasant rational approach to an already complicated host of issues which may entail claims arising in: Professional negligence, Breach of contract, Poor / negligent workmanship, Boundary disputes arising from wrongly sited buildings and Arbitrations / Mediations / litigation arising from such domestic construction disputes.

In support, Vernon works with six local chartered surveyors / valuers / structural engineers and is often found on site in all weathers – advising on the appropriate way forward – In the firm belief ‘ that success is proportional to effort’.

As a former PADI diver Vernon has until recent times been engaged on underwater construction and surveys at home and abroad; is [twice] the former Chair of the Poole Wine Circle and enjoys wine presentations/ visits to vineyards around the world; plays throughout the year for the local Falcons Petanque Team [twinned with Cherbourg] and is an avid rugby follower of Exeter & Bath fixtures.
